Winner of U8 category of the British Chess Championship, 2016

Shreyas Royal has won the U8 category of the 103rd British Chess Championships, held between Saturday 23rd July - Saturday 6th August 2016 at the Bournemouth Pavilion, Westover Road, Bournemouth BH1 2BU.

It’s just one of a host of titles that Shreyas has won since he first learned chess (from his dad, Jitendra Singh) at the age of five. And he firmly believes this is just the start – he is aiming high and is confident that he can, and will, achieve great things in the chess world.

“I love playing Chess,’ said Shreyas, ‘and I really want to be a world champion. I think it’s possible that I will be, although it will be hard as there are lots of other really great players. I also have to make sure that I study hard at school.”
